Design Director, Architectural Design Department,
Toshimi Ura studied architecture and received his Master's degree at Kogakuin University in Tokyo. In 2001 he joined Nikken Sekkei, one of the Japan’s leading architectural design firms. Since then he has been involved in a number of projects including large-scale, mixed-use, education, office, residence, shopping, renovation, and landscape. Mr. Ura feels deeply that architecture can give form to things that are invaluable for humankind and the environment although they may appear invisible but have been unknowingly felt before. Tokorozawa Sacred Cemetery Administration Office, one of the important projects he executed, was shortlisted in the SD Review in 2014, one of the most honorable awards for young Japanese architects. Apart from his responsibilities at Nikken Sekkei, Mr. Ura taught at Kogakuin University from 2015-2019. His latest work; Kokugakuin University Learning Center, was Category Winner in the Higher Education & Research category at WAF 2019.
