Partner | Landscape architect,
Karres en Brands
Darius Reznek studied architecture and urbanism inRomania and earned his Master’s in Landscape Architecture at Wageningen University & Research. He started his career at Karres en Brands in 2012 and has since advanced at lightning speed to the level of designer, project leader and partner, working on complex spatial assignments, mostly abroad. He led Karres en Brands’s international competition team for several years and worked on numerous competitions, including the Paper Island urban design in Copenhagen city centre and the winning designs for the station area in Roskilde or Helsinge Garden City in Denmark and the Randwick Academic Health Science Centre Masterplan in Sydney. Not only has he gained knowledge and experience at Karres en Brands, he’s also honed his skills through his collaboration with many international agencies in Denmark, Germany, Switzerland, Russia and Norway. He brings all this experience to his work at Karres en Brands. Darius’s strength lies in his open-mindedness and inquisitive attitude. When approaching a complex spatial assignment, he considers both the qualities of the location itself and the overarching concept. This is evident in his work on the prize-winning design for the Triangle de Gonesse in Paris. For this design, the future working environment – a sustainable and ecological sport landscape – determined the guiding principles for the urban plan. Most recently Darius has been responsible for the winning competition proposal for Hamburg’s newest district - Oberbillwerder. Winner of WAF 2019 Best Future Project. The masterplan is currently Germany’s largest and most ambitious development with just under 130ha set to be developed into a cutting edge city of the future. He is also one of the lead-architects for the masterplan phase and further implementation. He is also partner in charge of the innovative highrise development in Utrecht (MARK) where intensive urban farming is being combined with new forms of living.
