Ankur Choksi co-founded Studio Lotus in 2002 with Ambrish Arora and Sidhartha Talwar. With a career spanning two decades, Ankur has been instrumental to the growth of practice to the scale at which it stands today, especially with regards to the Studio’s Interior Architecture vertical. One of the prime examples of his expertise is the design of Imagine Studio – a contemporary real estate marketing Experience Centre, for Godrej Properties Ltd. at ‘The Trees’ in Vikhroli – a landmark project that marries the rich industrial heritage of Mumbai with the forward-thinking flagship development; in succession to this project, Studio Lotus and GPL have commenced work on a Master Planning initiative as well as commercial rollouts for the property. Ankur is presently overseeing the interior design initiatives for hospitality spaces at The Trident in Jaipur, and the Clubhouse at The Trees in Vikhroli. In addition to these, he is also working on Project Sunshine, a corporate workspace project for Organic India in Lucknow, the design of public spaces at Luxury Hospitality property Taj Theog, and a boutique hotel in the Bandhavgarh forest reserve. Ankur is also leading the development and consolidation of a Residential Design Vertical at the Studio; one of the first projects to be undertaken as part of this initiative was the Stepped House at Coonoor, which won the IIID Award at the Zonal Level earlier last year. A Graduate from the National Institute of Design at Ahmedabad, Ankur trained and worked as a Graphic and Exhibition Designer, before moving to Interior and Architectural Design. In addition to Retail and Hospitality design endeavours, Ankur has also worked extensively on conceptualization and spatial development for Events, Exhibitions and Museums. Ankur specializes in Interior Architecture, heading projects across a variety of typologies, and his passion for detail-oriented and narrative-centric design is reflected in his diverse portfolio of works undertaken at the Studio. Studio Lotus is acknowledged as a thought leader in the country for their work in the domain of Architecture and Interior Design. The work of Studio Lotus is grounded on the principles of Conscious Design, an approach that celebrates local resources, cultural influences, a keen attention to detail and an inclusive process. The studio’s work has been internationally recognized – winning, among others: the Creative Re-Use Award at INSIDE, the DOMUS Italia Award for Restoration and Adaptive Reuse, High Commendation at World Architecture Festival in the Office Buildings category, Special Prize at the Prix Versailles World Architecture Awards, making India’s AD 100 list for six consecutive years, and a nomination in the Aga Khan Awards cycle 2013.
