René van Zuuk Architekten
René van Zuuk (1962) is the founder, director of Rene van Zuuk Architects. The studio has several skilled workers of different nationalities based in Almere, The Netherlands. René van Zuuk studied Architecture and Building Technology at the Technical University Eindhoven. After his graduation in 1988 he went to work at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill in London and Chicago. In 1989 he won the competition “Ongewoon Wonen II” ( Unusual Living ) in Almere with the design of a residential building. This first project “Psyche” his own house, did not go unnoticed and got immediate attention from the architectural world. In the past 25 years the office has created an interesting portfolio with a large variety of designs of museums, sport facility buildings, bridges, housing and public buildings, like Arcam: the Architecture Centre Amsterdam, De Toekomst: Football Trainingcenter for FC Ajax and Block 16 (The Wave) in the City Center Almere, the urban plan of OMA. Currently he is working on the design of several bridges, housing projects and a paviljon at the Worldexhibition Floriade (2022). René van Zuuk has held professorship at the Technical University Eindhoven and judges, exhibitions and lectures in the Netherlands and abroad.
