Stanley Lung Wai Cham is the founder of MIX Design Studio as the creative, design and managing principal of the company. His diverse multitude training background and international project experience have equipped him to lead his practice and team to handle both international and local project design commissions, competitions, constructions and collaborations around the globe. Stanley believes in mix-disciplinary to tackle challenging projects and solving complex problems through design. He has established offices and studios in Beijing, Xiong’an, Hong Kong and Toronto. Under his lead, MIX has completed numerous projects across scales, types and countries, ranging from landmark designs, framework strategies, regional planning, ecological tourism, landscape infrastructure, urban design, architectural buildings, public parks, interior design, exhibition display, art furniture, installation and animation. He has received the Most Futuristic Design Award for the Liberland National Master Plan by the President, currently leading the team of MIX on completing a few innovative mixed-use development projects: The Future Vehicles & Smart Mobility Science & Production Complex for Baoding, (560,000m2); Chengdu Jintang Yongjing Development Mixed-Use Complex (2,000,000m2); Xiongan District Railway Transport and Underground Logistic Master Plan, the landscape design for Suzhou-South, Yunnan Qujing, Qingdao Hongdao High-Speed Train Station, and many on-going projects.
Prior he founded MIX, Stanley involved in over 100 key design projects in the past 12 years as a director in-charge, associate, project manager, architect and designer for different international renowned firms, such as Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) in Copenhagen for over 2 years, won and finished multiple significant 1st prize and prestigious construction projects for the office along with the team which includes The Shenzhen Energy Headquarter Twin Tower Mansion (96,000m2); The New York West VIA 57 (80,000m2), a residential complex in Manhattan and many other dozens. He has worked at Turenscape for over 9 years, completed a few awarded-winning design projects which include the Kazan Kaban Lake Embankment Masterplan in Tartarstan, Russia. The International District Hing Hay Park in Seattle, United States in 2016. The Chengtoushan Archelogy Park by WAF Berlin 2017, The Yanweizhou Park by WAF Singapore in 2015, Liupanshui Minghu Wetland Park and Calligraphy Museum by ASLA, United States in 2014, The Harbin Cultural Center Wetland Park by AZ Award Canada in 2016. A few international 1st prize winning projects include the Hangzhou High-Speed Railway West Station, and two projects from the Singapore Rail Corridor competition. In Toronto, Guangzhou and Hong Kong with JET Architecture (JET) for few years.
Stanley received both his Bachelor and Master Degree of Architecture from Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada. Beyond his practice experience, he was heavily involved in the media, broadcasting, and entertainment industry professionally in Toronto and served the Chinese community as a News Anchor and Reporter at Singtao A1 Chinese Radio Station – AM 1540, scriptwriter, and producer for WOW TV Station, and Journalist and Critic for a bilingual Chinese-English magazine Asiawave in Toronto interviewed influential designers and firms internationally. Lung was invited as jury for the WAF and many other prestigious awards as well as international competitions. He is also invited by different government ministries and public organizations around the world to speak at major conferences and give out lectures at forums as keynote speakers, focusing on sustainable planning, ecological design and creative architecture. He was also invited as session and workshop advisors on academic design studios, education programs and professional associations and unions.
