Hamish Monk is a director with the office Monk Mackenzie. Monk Mackenzie architects are a young firm, founded in 2014 in Auckland, New Zealand with a second office recently opened in New York. The office works across a broad range of project types, including commercial, civic, infrastructural and residential. Monk Mackenzie architects are a three time winner of the World Architecture Festival, having won awards in 2016, 2017 and 2018. In 2016 they won for their #LightpathAKL project - a 700 metre urban cycleway through Auckland, New Zealand, in 2017 their X_House project in Queenstown, New Zealand won future house of the year and in 2018 their Thiruvalluvar Bridge in India won. Monk Mackenzie’s work tries to provide elegant and sculptural solutions while always maintaining an element of the poetic.
