Christine Hawley was Professor of Architectural Design at the Bartlett UCL. From 1993- 1999 she was Head of the Bartlett School of Architecture and from 1999-2009 the Dean of the Bartlett and Head of the Faculty of the Built Environment and. She was previously a lecturer at the Architectural Association and Head of the School of Architecture at the University of East London. She has lectured, exhibited and been published extensively over the last 30 years throughout the U.S.A., Europe and the Far East.
Built work includes a multi-media, teaching and exhibition space for the Städel Academy in Frankfurt and exhibition pavilions at the Osaka and Nagoya Expo, social housing for the I.B.A. in Berlin and in particular the Kitagata re-development plan were government commissions to establish
new social housing typologies for the future. Award winning projects include a museum for Roman remains in Carnuntum Austria in collaboration with Peter Cook and the Hakka Cultural Centre, Hayung
City China. Christine Hawley has been an adviser on the U.K. government Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment and chaired committees examining the implications of future teaching methods and delivery in Europe, UK and Australia. She has curated a number of exhibitions including the Hong Kong Architecture Biennale in 2015 and is currently on the Board of Governors for ECA and an advisor for the Arups Foundation.
Christine Hawley was awarded the CBE in 2008. Awarded the RIBA Annie Spink Prize 2016
