Fernando Sordo Madaleno was born in Mexico City, studied architecture at the Universidad Iberoamericana graduating in 2014 with honors. Before graduating he was closely involved with the everyday work of Sordo Madaleno Arquitectos where he began as Jr. Architect then became Project Leader. Now he leads the studio as Design Principal, having under his supervision around 60 projects.
He has been part of numerous projects with different typologies, such as the New Mexico City International Airport competition, El Zafiro residential in Careyes and built projects, such as Alcazar de Toledo residential and the Massimo Dutti flagship store in Mexico City, which won the UNESCO Prix Versailles 2017 in the “Stores” category.
Fernando has developed and lead several projects currently under construction such as Sunscape in Quintana Roo, the residential project in Amelia Tulum –winner at World Architecture Festival 2018 Residential for Future Projects–, Minas 71, Alcázar II and Vista Hermosa in Mexico City.
He has won international architecture competitions, with the projects of Expo Guadalajara in Guadalajara, Constitución 999 in Monterrey, Ron Matusalem Distillery in Dominican Republic, SHÁ in Cancún; and obtained second place in the competition by invitation for a new shopping center in Al-Ain, United Arab Emirates.
