Irving Smith Architects is a research based design practice working in sensitive environments in New Zealand and abroad. The practice has received a string of awards, including winning the Villa category at the World Architecture Festival Berlin in 2017, New Zealand Architecture Awards in public and residential categories, and representing New Zealand at the Prague International Architecture Festival, where their Soft-Context:Soft-Architecture exhibition presented an approach of participating with existing landscapes rather than generating new contexts. Jeremy has judged the New Zealand Architecture Awards, teaches an iterative design studio at Masters level at Auckland University, and is completing a design based PHD between practice commitments.
