The World Architectural Festival is a celebration of the finest buildings of 2008 from around the globe. During three days, architects from many different countries gathered in Barcelona to see great work, network, do business and above celebrate innovation behind award-winning buildings. The winners were awarded trophies during an Awards Ceremony on the final evening of the Festival, followed by the Closing Party.
Wednesday 22 October – Opening party
Time: 19.00 to 21.00
Location: Edificio Forum
Explore the Barcelona City exhibition at Edificio Form, adjacent to the convention centre. The building itself was designed by Herzog & De Meuron and houses a fascinating exhibition on the past, present and future of Barcelona.
Mingle with peers and swap stories of what you’ve seen that day, at our opening party on the first evening of the Festival.

Friday 24 October – Awards ceremony

Location: Grand auditorium, Edificio Forum
Be there for the climax of the Festival - our glittering awards ceremony. All Festival visitors are invited to watch the winner’s of each category pick up their trophy and find out if there were any highly commendeds awarded. Find out who won the student charrette and be there to see who won the first ever World Building of the Year.
Friday 24 October – Closing party
