The world's largest festival and live awards for the global architecture community: debate, learn and be inspired
2-4 October 2013
Marina Bay Sands
It has been amazing to be part of the WAF award winning team. When you look across the range and quality of projects put forward for the WAF Awards, to be short listed and then become associated with the overall winner is a momentous achievement for Grant Associates.

We saw projects from four continents that ranged in scale from 300 to 90,000 users before selecting four exceptional and innovative projects as winners.
Quality in architecture exists at all scales, so we did not consider that physical size was crucial to a project´s success. Nor was iconic status or global recognition.
To us, the most important question to ask was this: which project, irrespective of its scale, can have the greatest positive impact on the life of the community that it serves, no matter how small or how big that community? The potential for regular use of a facility in a variety of operating modes became a touchstone for our deliberations. In the end, we chose the smallest of the four finalists, the Sports Hall in Bale, Croatia by 3LHD Architects, as the winner.
WINNER Sports Hall Bale, Croatia, 3LHD Architects, Croatia
