The many and varied projects in this category all showed architecture as a health giver. At the same time, many of them shied away from traditional institutionalised solutions, integrating the buildings in local culture and in the city.
The winner, Centre pour le Bien-être des femmes in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso by FAREstudio, encompasses all those basic qualities that make good architecture: political relevance, local culture/climate and rich space making.
